Plenty of chocolate calls itself sugar free and then leans on sweeteners that bring their own baggage, the chemical aftertaste of stevia or the digestive upset of sugar alcohols like erythritol. We do neither. Our Pure Peruvian 100% is completely unsweetened, pure cacao and nothing else. The rest are sweetened only with yacon syrup, whose sweetness comes mostly from prebiotic fibres your body treats as fibre rather than sugar, so it barely touches your blood glucose. No refined sugar, no stevia, no sugar alcohols, ever.
THE YACON SECRET: SWEETNESS YOUR BODY READS AS FIBRE
Yacon syrup is our quiet hero. It is drawn from the root of the Peruvian yacon plant and is rich in fructooligosaccharides, or FOS, a prebiotic fibre that passes through largely undigested and feeds the good bacteria in your gut. Because of that, yacon carries a glycaemic index of just 1, so it sweetens gently without the spike and slump of normal sugar. It is why our bars sit so comfortably with low-GI, keto and diabetic ways of eating, and why they make such a satisfying answer to a sugar craving.

Cutting the sugar does not mean cutting the pleasure. Because these bars are high in raw cacao, they are also high in the good stuff: flavanols, fibre, magnesium, iron and gently energising theobromine. Is your chocolate really sugar free?
Our Pure Peruvian 100% is completely unsweetened, with no sugar at all. The others contain no refined sugar and no artificial sweeteners, sweetened only with yacon syrup. Yacon's sweetness is mostly prebiotic fibre, so it barely affects your blood sugar, though the bars are not zero-sugar in the strict labelling sense.

What sweetener do you use instead of sugar?
We use yacon syrup, a natural sweetener from the Peruvian yacon root. Its sweetness comes largely from fructooligosaccharides, a prebiotic fibre with a glycaemic index of just 1, so it sweetens gently without spiking your blood sugar. We never use refined sugar, stevia or sugar alcohols.

Is your sugar free chocolate suitable for diabetics?
Many people managing their blood sugar enjoy our chocolate, because yacon is very low GI and our 100% has no sweetener at all. That said, everyone is different, so if you are diabetic we would always suggest checking the nutrition information and listening to your own body.

Does sugar free chocolate cause digestive issues like some brands?
Ours is far less likely to. The bloating and upset some sugar free chocolate causes usually come from sugar alcohols like erythritol or xylitol, which we never use. Yacon's prebiotic fibre is gentle and actually feeds beneficial gut bacteria, though as with any fibre, very large amounts are best avoided.
